Title: UDMA/66 and installing
Post by: Javier Guerra G. on March 09, 2000, 07:07:48 PM
I still can't install the e-smith package.  Does it has the same trouble installing on a UDMA/66 system as RedHat?

The installer seems to finish correctly, but after that the server won't start up.  It hangs right after the "building user quotas..." message.  Does anybody know what follows that in the rc.d scripts?

E-smith 3.x is based on RedHat 6.0, so it will have the same trouble installing on UDMA/66 that RedHat does (I'm taking your word that RedHat has this problem - I've never tried it myself). If there is a RedHat solution to the problem it should work with E-smith as well.

That happens midway through /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit. The very next thing is
the hostname is stored into the file /etc/HOSTNAME.

You might consider dropping back to UDMA/33 until the support on RedHat situation is clarified.
