Title: New Features Request
Post by: wen_jacko@yahoo.com on May 23, 2008, 07:21:19 PM

Hi SME Server team:

I suggest that if the ERP/CRM(such as opentaps or openbravo) or IDS(intrusion detection system) can be added into SME server, that will be superb.  I personally believe that a lot of small medium size companies are looking an all in one server plateform, so, if these things are added, it will draw a lot of attention from those companies.

Well, let's face it, SME Server has a lot of competitors, such as Slack Mini Server, E-Box, BEL Server, Karoshi. They have their strength.  I think if SME Server wants to differentiate itself from them, more features must added to the server.

Just a suggestion, any comments?

Well, I'm not the 'SME Server team' but I guess the inclusion of a ERP/CRM in SME wouldn't fit into the idea of a secure, small, easy-to-install and easy-to-administer server distribution. The SME Server can be easily expanded by installing contribs. And I think many users don't need an ERP or CRM so I would suggest that is a good idea for a new Contrib.
But the right place to raise New Feature Requests is the bugtracker at http://bugs.contribs.org/ (http://bugs.contribs.org/).
