Title: Can't connect from Ubuntu to PPTP VPN
Post by: smeusr on May 31, 2008, 02:32:27 PM
Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 on my laptop.  I can't seem to be able to use the linux PPTP client to connect to the SME 7.3 server.  The error coming back is always 'connection error'.   I also have openvpn setup and it can't connect either.  While all my windows boxes can connect easily using either protocol.  Is there a particular EAP, compression or encryption setting that I need to make on the linux pptp client?  I love my SME server and I love my laptop running Ubuntu.  It would be wonderful if I can connect my laptop to my sme server from remote.  I don't have a firewall running on my laptop.

Please help.  Thanks in advance. :-?

SME server pptp supports neither compression nor EAP. Encryption is 128bit.

Thanks very much Charlie.  Much appreciate your help...

Quick update:
Made the necessary changes and it's working like a charm.  I just love my SME server.
