Hi Guys
Do you know what I need to install on a SME 7.3 Server so that Users from 4 Branches can Communicate via Skype (25 Users) or will TeamSpeak do the Trick. They need to Speak over the Net and or Chat with each other.
Any help greatly Appreciated :P

hi
AFAIK there's no 'server' installation of skype... and skype is a client sw, i.e. you have to install it on each pc..

That was exactly what I thought.
And I just read that at least the latest Windows version supports conferences with up to 25 participants. So that would fit your requirements.
If you need a server based solution (well, a server which is under your control) for some reason you would have to use TeamSpeak (http://wiki.contribs.org/TeamSpeak_Server).

Thanks for the Info Guys.
I realise that Skype is a Client and as I mentioned "will Teamspeak do the Trick".
What I needed to know is that would the same hardware (Generic Skype Phone) etc. also work with Teamspeak and with the Client of TeamSpeak or do I need the Users to use a Generic Mic/Earphones? :P

But that question was not in your first post and anyhow it has nothing to do with SME at all. Sorry, I don't know the answer right now and I don't have the time to search now...but you should find the answer quite easy using Google or any other search engine you like.

Bud,
I think what you need is asterisk IP PABX server as a VOIP server.
Search forum for SAIL or asterisk / trixbox.

Hi e[nt]e, thnaks for your input. Sorry for the confusion, you are right I did not explain myself properly.
Thanks thomasch for your suggestion. My questions on SAIL or asterisk / trixbox.
1. Which is the easiest to Install/Config and to Use for Users with minimal skills.
2. Do I need any other hardware with those products for the system to work? (for the SME Server 7.3) or do they only need a "Skype Phone / Mic and Headphones " ?
Thanks again for your help :)

Hi Bud,
1. Which is the easiest to Install/Config and to Use for Users with minimal skills.
Personally i think SAIL is the easiest (and the best for business use).
2. Do I need any other hardware with those products for the system to work? (for the SME Server 7.3) or do they only need a "Skype Phone / Mic and Headphones " ?
If you stick to SIP/IAX only you can do without hardware (except for a 'server' that is :D ) and just use softphones.
Mind you, teamspeak is dedicated teleconference software and is probably easier as a quick solution for you problem, SAIL/Asterisk is a complete PBX that also does conference calls but has much more fun stuff onboard. For info on SAIL: http://sarkpbx.com or ask around in the dedicated forum (http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?board=20.0) for this.
Just my 2c.

Hi jester
Thanks for your input. Well here goes the Noob Questions again :P
1. What RPM(s) do I install for Sail on my SME 7.3 Server
2. Do I need a Client for my Skype Phones?
3. How do I get my Users to Use it?
Sorry in advance for this. I'm quite new to Sail as you can see.

Just so you are properly informed: Skype (phones) won't work with Asterisk.... well, that is not without some (exotic) hardware or a fair bit of hacking !! (or i am really miss-informed).
Also a good source for general info on Asterisk: www.voip-info.org
