Title: Want to upgrade my NIC
Post by: turtle2472 on July 05, 2008, 06:46:08 PM
I have looked at the link for available Red Hat NICs but I'm just not figuring out which card I can use.  I'd like to go to a gigabit NIC for my local side of the server. I have easy access to this card (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1129151689795&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=8979522279B04) and am wondering if it would work.  If not, what other gigabit card can I use by name.  I'm having no luck with the Red Hat site. :\

this is the output from lspci on a hp ml115 server:

Is there a list compiled somewhere of good NICs?  The Intel ones you linked to are more expensive than I want to put into this.  Surely there's a sub-$50 card out there to upgrade to Gigabit.  If I were to put that much into the server I'll build a new one with Gigabit in it.

A little background on my server; it's for advanced home use.  I'm not running a business or anything like that.  It's important that it stays up and running, but not "mission critical" and certainly not worth enterprise pricing. :)  Thanks for any help.
