I am in the process of establishing a business in a serviced office environment. Am I correct in thinking that because I will be connecting to my landlord's business broadband which is protected by his firewall, I will be forced to run SME Server 7 in 'server only' mode? If that is the case, will I still be able to host email and a website? My landlord seems to think I will have a problem, but neither of us has experience of SME Server 7.

Why not? Of course you can, and it is a very normal situation.

Yes make sure you have a firewall in front of it and forward relevant ports (80 http, 443 https, 25 smtp) to the internal server, also make sure the external DNS entries are correct so other servers know where to find your domain (this is relevant for web traffic as well as mail traffic).
