Title: Share user files with other users
Post by: zipo13 on August 11, 2008, 10:56:37 PM
Hello,
I have been testing SME 7.3 in order to replace our file server in the company.
So far it works good.
One thing I'm missing is the ability to share user shares between users.
When a new user is created a folder is created for him automatically. This is great but I want to allow other users in the same group read only access to all other users in the group too. I want to limit it so the only one who can write to a share is the user himself but anyone else can read from it.
I know about ibays but quota is not working there and everyone can write or no one can wrote and its just no good enough.
Any one has an idea how to make this happen?

I think you will find this goes against the design of samba

alternatively
if you have a knowledge of Linux, the file system and shell access you can do stuff with symlinks which will achive this result.

try searching for acl or samba acl
