Title: Is either mailman or ezmlm going to be included in future releases?
Post by: Trashman on September 03, 2008, 04:49:17 AM
Or they r going to be kept as external contributions?

If any is going to be included, wich one?

BTW, the wiki about mailman is still current? because somewhere i saw a mention to version 2.1.9 but lost the thread after seeing it...and the install with the wiki instructions gave me some weird behaviour...

Moving this topic to the SME 7.x contribs forum, it is more appropriate there. Thanks!

Trashman

The general concept is not to add contribs to the base, it only means more work for the very small development team. Part of the problem is guaranteeing that new versions of the contrib code (ie from other upstream sources) will always work correctly with new versions of sme.

It's better to leave these type of applications as contribs, which are seperately maintained.

Some time ago there was a general suggestion (I think from developers) to go in the direction of mailman as the mail list of choice as it had better features/functionality. At present both are available as contribs.
