Title: PostgreSQL & PHP in SME
Post by: T2I on September 04, 2008, 03:31:02 AM
I have searched through the forums and couldn't find the information I was looking for.  What I'm trying to do is connect PHP to a Postgre database on a different machine.  However, no matter what I do, I cannot get PHP to connect to the database.  Do I need to install Postgre on the SME server machine or am I missing something?

Thanks!

Shayne

It seems to me that your question has nothing to do with SME server per se, but is just a PHP programming question, or a question related to postgresql running on a different machine. You will probably get more or better answers to your question if you ask somewhere else.

Well, I was asking in SME vs a PHP forum for a couple of reasons:

a) knowing that SME has various installs, etc, I didn't want to possibly break my existing MySQL by adding a Postgre one

b) hoping that possibly somebody else running an SME box had ran into this same scenario and found a possible workaround

But if this question doesn't belong, that's cool.  I'll continue to look for my answers on other forums :)

Thanks.

Moving this topic to the General Discussion forum, it is more appropriate there. Thanks!
