Title: Configuring Winbind on Centos for user authentication on sme
Post by: trystnw on September 04, 2008, 12:50:56 PM
Hi

We are looking at configuring our centos workstations to authenticate against SME users. We have used the inbuilt system-config-authentication tool on centos5 , it says joined domain but we are unable to login using the credentials configured on SME. We have configured winbind in both the user as well as the authentication tab of the system-config-authentication tool. We have tried with both the domain as well as the user security model without success. Any pointers will be highly appreciated

Thanks

tran loging in as admin with the password or the root account may work

Hi
That's exactly what we are doing , but does not seem to work. The machine joins the domain , but when you try to login with any network users (including Admin) , it says username not found

Thanks

Although for CentOS and AD I do not think it will be very different to your case, have a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/samba_ads_security_mode
