Title: Extending SME Server 7.3 partition
Post by: dexterrsg on September 12, 2008, 04:00:28 PM
I de facto became an administrator of a server.

The current status of the server is running fine, but it looks like the partition is too small.  If I understand the issue correctly, the server was originally on a 400 GB drive, and then mirrored to a 500 GB drive and not using the full 500 GB.

Whats the best way to extend this partition?

Thanks

Have a look at this:

If you need help come back with whatever questions you might have.

If you do not feel comfortable doing this (It can be destructive to your data if done incorrectly). There are consultants that can be hired.

Good Luck  8)

The current status of the server is running fine, but it looks like the partition is too small.  If I understand the issue correctly, the server was originally on a 400 GB drive, and then mirrored to a 500 GB drive and not using the full 500 GB.

So there are now two disks in there, one 400 Gb and one 500GB.
In that case you are stuck to using the max 400Gb capacity as this is the smaller one. Once you replace the 400Gb with a disk at least 500Gb (Caution here, 500Gb advertised isn't always what is seems!) then you can !!! AFTER syncing !!! extend the size to 500Gb.
