Title: Install updates
Post by: smeerbartje on September 15, 2008, 09:08:41 AM
My server sends me an email every day containing the following text: "Updates available for server". But the server-manager says everything is up2date. Is it possible to manually let YUM retrieve and install the latest updates?

You can use yum to apply the updates

Log in from the terminal or through ssh as root

Enter yum update. it will check for updates and ask if you want to continue. If you say y, it  will download and install the updates.
Don't forget to do the signal-event post-upgrade; signal-event reboot at the end

This is covered in the wiki FAQ at

Thank you for your reply, but don't you think it is strange that the server-manager tells me there are no updates?
