Title: Help - Externally Hosted Web Site Access
Post by: tfewster on September 24, 2008, 07:16:45 AM
Help,

I host my mail on my SME Server box (mail.littlesmarties.com.au) and have my website hosted externally (www.littlesmarties.com.au).

I can't access my access my website from inside the sme server domain as it point back to 10.0.0.50 or something similar.

What setting do i have to change to point it to the external domain

Thanks in advance.

Tim

Did you take a look at the manual, specifically the hostnames and adresses section (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter13#Hostnames_and_addresses (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter13#Hostnames_and_addresses))?
Your "www" hostname normally points to "self". In your scenario you should select "remote" and point your "www" hostname to the external IP address (117.55.237.202) of the server where your website is currently hosted.

Hi,

much appreciated worked like a charm, what about the address http://littlesmarties.com.au which is still resolving to the sme server.

Thanks

Create a hostname for littlesmarties.com.au and point that to the external website/IP
