Hello,
I have a weird problem that popped up when I moved a SME server to a new machine. I changed the IP address using the console and everything seems fine except for a problem in the server-manager web admin
Old server lists modules under categories: Collaboration, Administration, Security, Miscellaneous, Configuration, Unknown. New server only lists everything under Unknown
I browsed the docs but couldn't find this - any insight would be appreciated!

I think it sounds like the ip change was not done the correct way.
I would have logged in to shell as "admin" and runned trough a new configuration procedure. (That will also set the ip the correct way.)
An other next step (if required) could be to generate new configuration files:
signal-event post-upgrade
signal-event reboot

Did you move to a higher version with the new server?

Thanks for the suggestions. I migrated old server to new server using rsync (rsyncd the whole entire system), haven't done a version upgrade.

How?
Did you install SME on the new machine first? and then rsync all the files from the old machine to the new one?

Booted new system from live cd, partitioned hard disk, and then rsync'd from the old server across the network while old server was still running.

I am sorry I can't help on this, it seems like there are too many possibilities of what could go wrong with this method. If the new server is not live yet and the old server still holds current data I would suggest you redo it :-( :-( (yes I am sorry) with the following:

(maybe somebody else can get it working for you.)

I think that this method can never work as the mysql database files can not be copied with a running server.

That's certainly not a recommended method and may have introduced many problems.
You could try this:
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/navigation-conf
(ignore all warnings that appear on screen)
You should really have a read of this:
