Post by: szenczi on October 16, 2008, 02:44:26 PM
Hi,

I need help to set a custom interval of download mails from our ISP. (E.g. 2 min.)
How can I do this?

Thanks,
Norbert

you have to copy the template fragments into /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/path_to_crontab_file, modify them accordingly to your need and then expand the right template.

BTW an interval shorter than 5 minutes will create you some problems..

Thank you!

To what problems do you think?

Thank you!

To what problems do you think?

- timeout in mail receiving: if you have (let's say) 5 email accounts to retrieve, one fetchmail process could start while another is running..
- some ISPs don't like too many connections

BTW, search the forums about it.. there are other 3ad about your question

Why do you want to do that?

If you want email to arrive "as soon as possible", then you should not be using the ISP's mailbox, but should arrange direct SMTP delivery.
