I have the same problem with the full version. What about the updateserver "download.ravantivirus.com"? Is this server less overloaded? I have the templated install by Darrel May, how do I change server or change the update time.

I just installed the package this morning and I am getting the same message only with a login error -- Darrell, oh, Darrell?

Hi,
Just to let you know, I'm seeing the same problems on two test installations using the RAV trial version..

Please install release -16 and then revisit the server-manager RAV Configuration panel.
http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/rav-8.3.2/
rpm -Uvh dmc-mitel-rav-8.3.2-16.noarch.rpm

Edit /etc/cron.d/ravupdate.sh, and change the first column to some random number between 1 and 60. This will be the minute of the hour when the update runs. I think what's happening is that the server's getting overloaded at the beginning of the hour.

Dont forget updates happen every hour or 24 times a day. If you miss one or two during the day it really is no big deal. If you don't want the error message e-mailed simply set VERBOSE=SILENT in the server-manager RAV Configuration panel. The cron.daily job will always e-mail you so you will always get at least one status message a day.
You may also check the ravupdate.log manually anytime via the View Log Files panel in the server-manager.

Darrell

Hi all...
"Edit /etc/cron.d/ravupdate.sh, and change the first column to some random number between 1 and 60"
Where do I find the first column to change this value?
I just set up RAV (thanks Darrell) about 12 hours ago, have a dedicated circuit and have had 1 successful update...The manual one I did with ravav...it appears all settings are correct in the rav panel and the config files. The ftp.us site pulls up right away when i query it.
here are the 2 errors I get
1 The timeout period of 1500 seconds has been exceeded
2 The update process has failed with error level 35.
I see only one message in the RAV list about this..but there was no answer as to cause or solution.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

The first "column" in that file is actually the first couple of characters. It will consist of a number (probably 0), followed by a space. That number is the number of minutes after the hour that the command will run. Replace it with another number like 42.
