Heads Up...
Got Windows 7 running here, due for release in June 2009, but it can't see samba shares. In fact xp machines don't appear in it's workgroup list either, only Vista or Windows 7 machines. Might be a beta stuff up or might be MS trying to control the planet :)

If they do not have compatibility with their own old OS-es it will be the end of their imperium, so I conclude that it is a beta issue (perhaps better alpha issue as I think beta status is overrated).

This is a long shot but Windows Vista (and possibly Win7) have a network security lan manager authenticiation level. I had to fix this for my Vista machines to see Novell and SME shares.
in regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\| Lsa
Change LMCompatibilitylevel to 1
Reboot and see if you can see shares. As I said, its a long shot, I don't have Win7 here yet to test with.

Worth a shot but sorry ... no ... didn't do it.
Thought I'd run a widows7 in vm out of the sme server just to get network connections.
sad isn't it :(

The one thing about windows, by the time it gets to the public, it will change and then SP1 will come out and make it usable in business.

Yeppers, But this beta is the best I've tried since the 80's. It does everything out of the box. Installed on this raid array with no drivers .... mp4 built in .. xvid and vista did not get along. I need network to go .....

I suggest you look for a windows based forum or the MS Knowledge Base as the question is off topic in these forums and most likely you are the first to lay your hands on Windows 7.

Really, Off topic ... Windows and SME ... OK ... how odd.

No the problem seems not related to SME Server, it seems related to Windows 7, which is not supported through these forums.

Cactus .. just found out your dutch ... no wonder your a wanker .... It's in the blood.
I take serious offense in such postings and think it is of little courage to alter your post and add such insults after I already replied to it.
I expect at least an apology as I see no need for you to treat me like this.
If you would have read a little more in these forums you can see I have some credits in this community. Consider this my last reply to your posts.

You are on the wrong boards for this type of discussion. Head on over to samba.org and signup for their mailing list and post these questions there.
In my experience, every new release of windows breaks Samba functionality in one fashion or another -- probably intentionally. If a new release of Samba is needed to properly address Windows 7 (usually this is the case), then it will be quite some time before this update to Samba makes it to SME.
