Hi there,

does anyone of you know a way how to get back such many character string if a person in a hurry did double d in vi and was so stupid to do a :x after he did this ?

;)

any suggestions if there is a templatefile with the original string so that I could copy it and insert it again to get it running?

In fact, it is templated.  /sbin/e-smith/expand-template /root/.my.cnf should do the trick.
