Sorry but I need to have this clarified
As I understand it the SME Server does not screen outgoing emails for SPAM and virus if it is used on a LAN as smtp server. Not even if Spamassasin is installed. At least that is how I understand the answers in this thread (http://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,40677.0.html).
But then I hear that other people that use spamassasin to scan outgoing mails (not SME systems). Barracura (the product) can scan outgoing mails and is based on spamassasin. And a Danish guy from another forum tells he is using Spamassasin with simscan to check outgoing mails for SPAM/virus before they are sent. So it should be possible.
But a search both on the forum and the wiki does not give much info on this. So either there is no such thing as scan of outgoing emails in any way on a SME server. Or it is allready present and therefore no need for simscan etc. and I am just not aware of it.
Can anyone please help me on this one? Can the SME server be used as a SPAM filter for outgoing emails when used as a SMTP server on a local LAN?

AFAIK this is not easily done, however you can require your users to authenticate on th internal network as well, which makes spamming through SME Server a lot harder.
