Hi
Just wondering if there is and plans to put "SARK UCS QoS Panel" or something similar back into SAIL SME?

No, there are no plans to put any traffic shaping or management back into vanilla SAIL. It would be in the wrong place for most applications and it is a whole subject in its own right. In any event, we are extremely sceptical that there is much benefit to be had from local traffic shaping for the simple reason that most problems occur outside of local control anyway. Indeed, we get at least one issue a month where investigation later shows that voice thruput problems were actually being caused by incorrectly set shapers (usually, badly set-up, Cisco routers).

Thank you for your quick response and I understand now why it was removed.
BTW... Keep up the good work your are doing selintra. I'm sure I'm not the only one that appreciates what you and other are doing here.

Hi,
I just installed HTBWondershaper (http://wiki.contribs.org/Wondershaper) yesterday afternoon. Still early to say if it's really good or not, but seems that it solved my problem without loosing too much bandwidth on my internet connexion
I have a 2048/128kb/s ADSL connexion. The voice was not good with SIP lines as soon as there were some other traffic on my connexion, like if some packets were lost. With HTBWondershaper, no more problems until now !
As far as I understands what I read, seems that HTBWondershaper is not good with ADSL 2+ variable speed connexions. As it's not my case, it's working well. Too bad that selintra removed QOS from sail because some people having ADSL 2+ connexions reported problems... I think that with a good explanation (or an option desabling QOS with ADSL 2+) it could have been kept.
But it's true also that QOS is a plain subject by itself, and can be useful not only for telephony. So, it should be a separated contrib...

Hi,
After some days without any problem and a very good sound, I applied the last updates (to upgrade to 7.4 version of SME). Since, the sound is very bad...
Why was HTBWondershaper a good solution with version 7.3 and is not anymore with 7.4 ? I don't know...

It's possible that the script is now outdated. I had a quick look and it appears to be modifying iptables directly rather than using the e-smith database.
