Title: Egroupware & User Password
Post by: Gaetan on November 27, 2008, 01:59:20 PM
Despite the fact their profile settings allow them to do so, users cannot change their password in the Preference section.
We get the following error message:
"Failed to change password. Please contact your administrator."

Those user accounts are also created on the SME server - would their be a link ?
Egroupware Version is 1.4.004.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

eGroupware 1.6 is out.  Can someone update the installation contribs.  Their site says it fixed many bugs.  Maybe this is one of them.

eGroupware 1.6 requires MySQL5 and PHP5, neither of them is used in SME 7.x. I think it is better to wait until SME 8.x is released before switching to eGroupware 1.6.

The fact that users can't update their password in eGroupware is AFAIK due to the fact that SME Server doesn't have the ability (yet) to have the SME password updated through LDAP. So it's certainly not an eGroupware bug. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That would be my guess as well. eGroupware is set up to use IMAP authentication from what I recall reading, and there is no way to change passwords over IMAP.

Users can always change their passwords from http://server/user-password/.
