CANT SEND EMAIL USING SMTP SME 7.4 PLS PLS HELP
-
You'll need to give more detail than that :???:
How do you know it's not working? Are you getting an error message when trying to send mail, or does it just not go through? Do you have the e-mail client set to use SME as the SMTP server or are you trying to access another SMTP server and use SME as a proxy?

CANT SEND EMAIL USING SMTP SME 7.4 PLS PLS HELP
Please do not use all-capital sentences next time. It is, in general, considered rude behavior on the internet as it is considered shouting. Thanks very much!

first sorry about the caps, now for the problem, I'm trying to setup a email server, I'm using pop3 for receiving email and smtp for sending. I am also hosting a web site works great, but when it comes to the email side of thing its another story. I'm receiving all of my email in all account just fine in fact great, but sending using Outlook, web mail, Thunderbird is where the trouble start, sending within my domain works fine as well, I'm using the smtp in a proxy mode, using ssl port 465 and port 995 for pop3..
thank you for any help you can provide...

Try using your ISP server to relay mail, rather than having SME Server attempt to send messages directly. See the wiki (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:Administration_Manual:Chapter13#E-mail_Delivery) for instructions.
-
it will send a return address of admin@isp domain name.com not good :(
-
No, it will use whatever you configure as the return address in your email client (Outlook, Thunderbird).
All that will happen is that extra headers will be added to outgoing messages as they pass through the ISP server.

What if one is using webmail. I have a server which receives but cannot send. My users use outlook but when out of office they cant send mail.

IIRC in webmail you can also configure the sending address.

Yes and that is the problem for both of us I think. It is not working
-
What exactly is not working? What error messages are you getting?

... but sending using Outlook, web mail, Thunderbird is where the trouble start.
And what trouble is that? What exactly are you seeing or not seeing which causes you to think there is a problem?
