Post by: Teviot on December 17, 2008, 07:08:47 AM
Hi All

I noticed there is a addon call Busybox that can be added to SME.

I tracked down the hoesite for this package (http://www.busybox.net/).

Can someone tell me what would be the advantage and disadvantages of installng this package would be?

I don't fully understand what this package does!

The advantage you get is the small filesize. The disanvantage which can be an advantage too is it contains many many linux command in only one executable file.

Busybox designed to be very-small in filesize.  It is needed if you want to use unix/linux command-line in a linux machine where storage space resource is very precious.  It is designed for use in embedded linux machine which runs from a small flash memory.

Really? I'm surprised. Busybox isn't a suitable package to install on SME.

Then you definitely don't need it or want it.
