I am looking at incorporating automated offsite backup's into my SME server. I am currently using AFFA and a separate rsync file copy to a USB Disc, however this does not address offsite storage. I was looking at various options and have become intrigued by Amazon's S3 (other options are Nirvanix or the RackSpace equivalent). A search of the forums and Bugzilla came up empty, which surprised me.
Any comments or experiences??

I've not used a service such as this before.
If you can ssh into the production servers from the Internet side, then Affa can also work over the 'net. You could set up an offsite Affa server with a large amount of storage and then use it to dial in to each client server in turn to back up.
The first time you backed up the bandwidth use would be quite high, but as subsequent backups are differential it might not be particularly onerous, depending on the amount of data involved.

Thanks David,
I was aware of the AFFA solution you suggest, however, I do not have an offsite location which is suitable for placing the server.
As time allows I will attempt to do a little tinkering with the S3 program. It just might give my 2003 Server something to do.
