Hi,
I'm trying to set up my first SME server: Xen domU 1 router, Xen domU 2 internal server, Xen domU 3 external server.
I'd like to define the gateway:
eth0 192.168.0.150 internal to lan
eth1 10.0.0.150 external to ADSL modem 10.0.0.138, Alcatel Speedtouch Home (very old one).
My ISP does not allow bridge modes.
I connected the modem to a Mac laptop 10.0.0.18, defined VPN to 10.0.0.138, user myaccount@xs4all.nl and password, and it worked.
I cannot find how to do the same when using SME in server/gateway, perhaps PPPoE only, not PPPoA ?

Hi pdv..
I have the same ADSL modem.. but with a simple hack (search with google) I've changed that to a router.. ts working flawlessy since 2001..
if you change it to router, you don't need vpn anymore
Ciao

thanks for your fast reply!
here is the whole story:
we have both adsl (192.168.0.1, xs4all.nl, draytek vigor 2800g modem-router-switch) and cable (192.168.0.2, chello.nl, draytek vigor 2900g router-switch) as backup.
the lan currently is on 192.168.0.x, and has 2 routers, i would like to replace both by sme-server gateway, so the lan keeps running on cable while i have adsl to play with. i disconnected the vigor and replaced it buy the alcatel to hace the same simple setup as 10 years ago when i started with adsl.
i don't understand what to do to get either the alcatel modem or the sme router to 'dial' to my isp.

you refer to bridge, my isp says i cannot configure the alcatel modem in bridge mode. how about that?
