Title: admin logon not working HELP!!!

Hi,
I have a real bad problem.  I changed ISP and have to change my IP address however I cant logon as admin.  As a result my internet gateway is down. 

When I try it just goes back to the username login.

In /var/log/messages I get this.
Jan 19 14:55:19 server login(pam_unix)[5018]: session opened for user admin by LOGIN(uid=0)
Jan 19 14:55:19 server  -- admin[5018]: LOGIN ON tty1 BY admin
Jan 19 14:55:19 server login(pam_unix)[5018]: session closed for user admin

HELP!!!

login as root and do

console command has allowed allowed me to change my ip :P
