Just needing some direction of where to head for this. Adding a 2940 to a currently running 5.1.2 system. System was loaded and put into production without the scsi card. Now needing more drive space, trying to add the card without a rebuild sinc ei know that the install will pick it up. I'm fairly sure that I'll need to rebuild the kernel to do it. But, have not a clue where to begin this little project at.
Would it be easier to replace the kernel with a already 2940 enabled kernel? If so how can I do that?
I've searched the forums and found nothing concerning anything of this nature. I'm not a newbie but I can't say that I'm a expert at linux either, but a good "Look at this" would do wonders.
thanx

I had the exact situation as you, a 2940 to provision a SCSI tape drive.
It did not recognize the card after I installed it (I beleive I read in the manual or on the forum here it must be present during the install to be autodetected).
I just did an "upgrade" from 512 to 512 and it picked it up automatically.
