I am a newbie. Could you show me how to enable apop authentication on SME 7.4?

You can't. Just use POP over an SSL encrypted connection (pop3s - port 995)

I have a device need apop authentication to work, this device can not use pop3s - port 995. How about pop3d and qpopper ? Does anyone use pop3d or qpopper with apop authentication on SME 7.x ?
