Title: PHP5 Contribution and MySQLi
Post by: F22-Raptor on March 15, 2009, 07:41:00 PM
I am trying to install the latest osCommerce version (3.0 Alpha 5) and use PHP5 Contribution, all this in the Primary iBay but the installation fails because MySQLi Extension is reported as not installed.

How can I find out if the extension is installed and if so how can I enable it?

If the extension is not installed, how do I install it?

This is not for a production server, is just a sand box I full around with and hopefully one day have a live store.

Does the SME ver. 8 come with PHP5?

Thanks for your help.

SME 8 (CentOS 5.2 based) come with PHP 5.1.6, and OC need PHP v5.2.0+

Thanks Normando. I looked it up as well.
I guess I'll have to go with SME 8 for the time being or just use some sort of Linux vanilla distro.

I was hoping, though,  that somebody can help me with the MySQLi configuration, maybe provide the command for mySQL configuration to work with the mySQLi extension. I did search the net for couldn't find something that looked useful.

I've contacted the developer and he informed me that there will be no updates for PHP5 contribution until a new version of PHP5 is out or osC releases an RC version.
The new PHP5 contribution will include support for MySQLi.

I will post here when I have any updates.

(Dave, thanks again for your quick response and for such a useful contribution).

No worries ;)

By way of explanation, as this OsC release is just an early alpha I don't see a need to waste time rebuilding a perfectly functional package set.

The kicker though, is that they say Alpha 5 is sort of production ready and will be supported for RC upgrades.

I was hoping I could start with SME 7 and osC 3.0 Alpha 5 and build from there.

It looks like I might have to go with SME 8 but the catch is that SME 8 is prod ready.

Oh well, I'll figure something out.
