I noticed on upgrading from 6.0.1-01 to 7.4 that I was never given the option to create a new boot diskette. The 6.0.1-01 will no longer work because the kernel files have been removed.
Does 7.4 support a different method for emergency boots?
Thanks,
Jim

Usually the install CD which has the ability to start with various command line options.
see http://wiki.contribs.org/Booting (http://wiki.contribs.org/Booting)
Reading the documentation before asking all these questions might help you more. Some things have changed (for the better) since 6.01.

Thanks. I remember reading about 'rescue', but had forgotten about it. After 20+ years of using diskettes for recovery, I automatically make sure I have a current one when I update a system.

See http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=792 for what and why support for rescue disks was dropped.
