I've got a C470IP running off our sail box here. I've also got a couple of customers running them.
I quite like them and so do our customers.
Here in the shop I need the portability and although the snom and aastra cordless phones are nice units I couldn't justify the extra cost..
We don't have the C580IP here in Australia, but it looks the same as the C470IP but without the colour screen..

All of the Gigaset range work nicely with SAIL. Most of our customers take a few from us. A lot use them to connect to SAIL from their homes. We have a couple of business owners who each have 6 handsets at home which they use for both domestic and business. They are also popular with vehicle sales outlets because their remarkable range (about 300M) means that they will work right across a large vehicle park.
Make sure you upgrade the base-station to the latest firmware release. Earlier releases were prone to dropping off-line and then never re-registering. Other than that, these are fantastic units at the price point. Tho only downside is that they cannot be automatically provisioned so you have to do each base station manually.

From experience I would say that the C460 is a no no - you can't transfer a call off it to another extension apart from another Siemens handset on the same base station. I had this checked out via our suppliers and with Siemens. Other Siemens Gigaset phones that we have tried are all OK.

You can do a transfer to another phone with the old C460, but not using SIP re-invite. Instead, you can use the asterisk # key type transfer. It isn't nice, it's clunky and it's slow, but it does work.

Will these phones failover to PSTN in the event of a power failure?

depends upon the nature of the failure...
The base station needs power to work. As long as you have that and the base station is plugged up to an analogue line, then you can make analogue calls.

Aye, I should have been more clear.

Just got one to try

How do you handle the transfers with the A580 ? Both # and *2# work but both are blind.
Is there a way to sip reinvite at all?
Thanks
