How can I install PHPMyAdmin on SME8?
I tried the contribution, http://wiki.contribs.org/PHPMyAdmin but it fails after "Parsing package install arguments" saying "No package semerver-phpmyadmin available." then "Nothing to do"
If it can't be done, how can I create a new database and a user with full rights?
Thanks
D.

Look here for how to create what you need

FYI there are no contribs available for SME 8 as yet. When 8.0 gets to Release Candidate stage, we will be testing contribs against the new code base.

John, that is exactly what I was looking for.
THANK YOU very much.
David, I figured the old contribs will not work on SME8 but I thought I'd give it a try anyway.

I think this is a mistake. The sooner contribs are tested (and incompatibilities discovered and documented), the better, IMO.

Perhaps, but it might also take away on of the major hurdles for a lot of users to stop it from implementing it in production environments. Might be worth discussing this on the devinfo list, what do you think Charlie?

Users can download the contrib and yum localinstall,
or tweak the repo path to point to the sme7 version
I expect most will work
The caveat being SME 8 will break from time to time, as it is now with an ldap bug

How does one change the repo path?
Is there a document/thread I can look at?
Thanks

phpMyAdmin works fine with SME 8
I have already tested it out.
Download it from the SME 7 repo site and do a manual (yum localinstall)
I have not tested phpmyadmin multi though.

Great, I'll try that.
