Title: SMTP proxy status - and HTTP proxy status 7.4 server only
Post by: dilligaf on April 07, 2009, 06:24:32 PM
I have a fortigate firewall ahead of my smeserver 7.4 (in server only mode)
There are approx 25 local users.
for e-mail would it take much load off server to disable SMTP proxy status and enter ISP smtp server instead?

And not clear on impact of having HTTP proxy status enabled on server only mode, when clients have fortigate router as gateway oppsed to sme server.

Thanks in advance.

SMTP traffic for 25 users probably isn't going to generate a large overhead. However, an HTTP proxy for that number of users could be slowing things down a little more.

It will generate none - the transparent proxy won't be invoked, as the server is not the default gateway for the clients.

No, the HTTP proxy will be speeding things up, via its caching function.
