Post by: Peter Wilco on May 27, 2002, 04:35:03 PM
A web page on the server has needs to be able to upload files through the browser, does e-smith support this? If it does and its just something that has to be set correctly in the browser then cool, some 1 help me out. Cheers :)

This should be possible however I don't know what the chmod-properties of the directory should be.

I know something like this is neccesary for osCommerce (e-shop). I believe from reading the treads about this package that they got it running on an e-smith server, maybe you can ask in the thread how they did it. You can probably find it by searching for the keyword "osCommerce".

Good luck!

Thanks for that, just one more question, do I place all files in a dir and just run install.sh or do I rpm a file? I'm not a linux guru so I'm not too sure!
Thanks again guys,

Hi,

Place all in 1 dir and run install.sh

You can examine install.sh for details.

You would be better off installing a CGI/Perl script that allows users to choose a file and upload it to a certain directory. There are heaps of free scripts that do this .

cgi.resourcesindex.com

Or use a PHP system

php.resourcesindex.com

I think they are under sections like editing web pages or file managment.

You will need to open a file to allow chmoding on your computer.

dir: /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/proftp.conf

edit allowchmod file to equal TRUE
