Title: Joomla installed in an I Bay

I've read that it is a bad idea to install Joomla in an I Bay but have not seen a reason. What's wrong with do it?

The poster who affirmed that never replied with a reason...
I can confirm that installing in a ibay is the best procedure, as some of the plugins that I use require Php5, and not wanting to upgrade the whole system to Php5 and using the php5-cgi is an option.

About security, it does not matter if you install under /opt or in a ibay, the risks are there and you should take the right procedures to make sure your system does not get hacked. Running joomla is a risk, specially the outdated version from the contribs area. So grab the latest and install it.

I'm having issues with the webpages with PHP5. When I go back to the standard SME version they work fine.

Update: I've discovered my issue is only when I enable "Search Engine Optimized URL". With it enabled and using PHP5 in the I Bay the webpages are mangled. Turn either off and the pages display correctly.

Really! Maybe I'm caching pages. Did you look at any page other than the home page? That one is okay. The rest look mangled on my computer using Safari and Firefox. Thanks for looking. I appreciate it.

Ahh I see, after you login as administrator go to globals and disable URL friendly, mod rewrite and the suffix to URL.

It works fine like that (that's how it is currently set). I really wanted to use the search engine friendly url option.

Install mod_rewrite then!
I think there's a how to in the wiki.

If you go to the Joomla website/extensions you'll find lots of search engine optimization that does a better job than the default.
