Title: kernel size
Post by: magwm on May 21, 2009, 10:15:33 AM

Hello, how is it that the kernels of the last update update are that much smaller than the installed ones?

 kernel                  i686       2.6.9-67.0.1.EL  installed          29 M
vs
 kernel                  i686       2.6.9-78.0.22.EL  smeupdates         12 M

Moving to General Discussion as it is more appropriate there.

The kernels are taken from upstream (CentOS) and are not modified by SME Server developers. I am not sure why the size difference is there, perhaps the CentOS forums is a better place to ask.

Judging by the difference in version number you are a few updates behind as in the mean time we at least had the following kernels:

kernel-2.6.9-67.0.4.EL
kernel-2.6.9-67.0.7.EL
kernel-2.6.9-78.0.8.EL
kernel-2.6.9-78.0.13.EL
kernel-2.6.9-78.0.22.EL
