Title: Unable to ping to or from the server after new install
Post by: mcoops on June 04, 2009, 08:57:23 AM
Hi,

I have a problem after reinstalling a machine that had previously been running SME server I now find I cannot ping to or from the server.

The test internet access failes

The machine installed with no issues

The boot says eth0 is ok. There is only 1 nic in the HP Proliant ML110 machine

The server is configured as server only, the be a DHCP server. The IP addresses of the router & network are correct.

I have checked all the cables etc.

The ethtool command looks ok but for the last line that says Link detected: No

What am I missing?

TIA Mark

Hi Stefano,

The ifconfig eth0 looks OK

I did a format & reinstall using sme 7.4 disk then used the backup when asked. That went in OK then rebooted.

ok..

try to go to console and reconfigure your server.. I think you'll do twice to confirm the right lan config.

if it doesn't work, raise a bug, thank you

Hi,

Got it sorted now. sorry to waste your time, its been a long week.

The problem was down to me. The ML110 has a second RJ45 socket on the back for iLo2. I was plugged into that....
