Title: Backuppc question
Post by: factory on June 05, 2009, 04:52:12 PM
What does "Link pending" and "Link running" mean in the state.

What happen If I kill the link running process?

Hi.
Link_runnig is a process which will create hardlinks between the actual backup, and the main pool file. Link_pending means that for this backup, the link process should be started soon. If you kill this process, your backup will be most likely corrupted. Why would you want to kill it ?

hi..

you'd better ask such a question on backuppc's support forums as it's something about how it works..

and/or, naturally, you could ask google: "backuppc link pending" -> Result 1 - 10 on  2.170 for "backuppc link pending"

Before I unmount the device I am making the backup on, I have to wait that all the "link pending" finish. And it takes a couple of hours.
