Title: modem not disconnecting

I have just installed sme server for the first time and everything is working reasonably well. The problem lies in the modem not disconnecting after the period of time i have specified. when someone on the network opens IE it dials up and there is no problems but it stays connected until i kill the modem. HELP !

It sounds like for a start you are using a MICROSOFT product, and you do not have a 27/7 connection. Get the above fixed up and someone may be willing to help you...

do i need a 24/7 connection to use with sme server. why does it offer options as to when the modem should disconnect if i have to have a permanent connection.??
