Hi all,
I have just built a new server. Dual core 2200 Sata disk two gigabit network cards.
I uploaded some 300GB of data in an i-Bay no problems there all went full speed some +/- 30MB/s.
Downloading though is very slow. Just over 2,3MB/s
I checked to see if the network cards were set to half duplex. They are set to full
duplex. I also switched the eth0 card with the eth1 card. This made no difference.
I cannot find a reason for the slow speeds. Between client PCs the speed is around 30MB/s.
If anyone has an idea how I can troubleshoot this issue, please let me know. Ik searched the forum unsuccesfully ... might be I'am looking for the wrong thing though ;-)
Kind regards,
Jan
PS I am not sure this is a 'bug' so I am posting it here first.
Update: I also tried a new cat 5e cable connected one client directly to the server. 3MB/s download speed. So no real improvement.
anyone?

ehrr .. well decided to exchange one of the two network cards for a brand new one ... all works fine now.
So two networkcards (one brand new) reported 1Gbs speed but delivered maybe 10 Mbs what are the chances of that. Now I get 40 Mb/s easy
ethtool eth0
