Title: mail from scanner not allowed!
Post by: DeMan on August 02, 2009, 09:22:16 PM
Hi support,

I have a problem with an AXIS 70U network document server sending PDF scans to a SME mail server.
This appliance is connected to a HP scanner and send Output over the network to a FTP server or mail server.

After replacing the mail server for a SME mail server I receive an error when trying to send output by mail.
The AXIS 70U reports "Message size limit exceeded. Message aborted" error.
The size is less then 100 Kb and shouldn't be the issue.

I think it's the communication to the SME mail server.

-Should I add the hostname (AXIS 70U) via the control panel as valid mail host?
-What should I do if this hostname is in uppercase?

Please advice.

Kind regards

Hi support,

Hi DeMan.. just to clarify, there's no "support" here.. we are all SME users, helping each other.. ;-)

and what about checking SME's logs? /var/log/qpsmtpd/current in this case

Ciao

Hi Stefano,

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

The reason is that the mail server complains about: Mail with no From header not accepted here.

The solution is found in the reply address:
Specify the e-mail address of the person responsible for the administration of the AXIS 70U. This address will be used as the sender when scanning to e-mail destinations, unless the user specifies another sender at the moment of scanning. If authentication is used the e-mail address of the authenticated user will be used instead.

Kind regards,

Bob
