Title: "There was an error installing kernel-smp..." - Acer Aspire One Atom, VirtualBox
Post by: yersin on August 04, 2009, 04:53:00 AM
Hi. I've had a problem while trying to install SME Server 7.4 in VirtualBox 3.0.2 in a Netbook Acer Aspire One (Atom N270, 1.6ghz, 1gb ram, XP). At around 50% of installation I get this error:
"There was an error installing kernel-smp-2.6.9-78.0.8. This can ... This a fatal error and your install will be aborted... Press the ok button to reboot your system". What may be wrong? I've tried with both options sme and sme586. Has anyone installed SME Server in an Acer Aspire One (maybe on a linux host)?

Thanks in advance

Hi. Does it mean it just can't be installed with Atom N270? Would I have more luck under Vmware or a Linux host?
Thanks.

I tried to get my Intel atom board to work, the onboard network port didn't work with 7.4

8.0 beta 3 crashed on boot, so I gae up for a while

Now SME Beta 4 seems to work fine and it has MySQL 5 so it will now be my development machine

Mandriva 2009 seems OK too
