Title: maillog - excluding a user ...
Post by: magwm on August 25, 2009, 10:09:33 AM
Hello fine folks! I have one of thos impossible questions.

I use the maillog account to make copies of all incoming and outgoing mail. Now we happen to also send some mailings, with some 3-4000 mails (no, not spam) per mailing. needless to say they clog up the mail backup system.

the question: is it possible to exclude one (or more) users from the maillog feature?

thanks for your considerations, have a nice day.
Michel

You could use MailArchiva which has settings that control what to do with every mail .

You could write a script to delete the messages you don't want to archive before you run your backups

You could also write a custom template for the .qmail file of the maillog user.

Wow folks thanks for the input.
I will look at Mailarchiva, which looks nice. BUT we have similar functionality right into our CRM so it will probably be redundant.
Now about the scripting. I am not very good at this, but.
How would I make a custom template for qmail, telling it to drop all COPIES to maillog of outgoing messagges of the user marketing ?

Or should I say a template for qmail telling to drop messagges to maillog coming from marketing?

I am not so much confused as at loss..

ciao from a very hot and sweaty Italy,
Michel
