hello,
i'm new on sme server. here is my problem: i have a server runing a bsd, but i want to switch on sme server. i have also a domain, let's say klinutzu.com, an internet connection with static ip, which is also the ns for my domain (now the domain is hosted on my bsd) and i want to host the domain on sme server. i've set up the domain on server manager, but it seems is a mistake somewhere, because when i've tried outside my lan to contact the domain klinutzu.com i receive an error.
what i must to put on dns for this domain? (i belive the problem is from dns)
thanks.

hi, welcome here

if you are trying from outside your lan and can't resolve your domain you are right, it's a dns issue.. but not a SME one.. :-)
please take the time to read carefully the documentation, thank you

SME can't act as an internet dns server.. please read here (http://wiki.contribs.org/SME_Server:Documentation:FAQ#External_DNS) and here (http://wiki.contribs.org/Domain_practical_usage_tips)

in bsd just write in named.conf the zone, create the file for master, write in resolv.conf and that's it. here isn't the same?

SME has a dns server called tinydns, but it is disabled and it is not configured because security issues. All DNS servers are under a lot of stress.
SME also use the same author package for DNS cache, called DNScache. It is only used to cache DNS for LAN.
I suggest to use an external DNS server like http://freedns.afraid.org (http://freedns.afraid.org)

aha,
tiny dns can not be configured and used?
