Title: SpamAssassin - DC_GIF_UNO_LARGO
Post by: Brave Dave on September 11, 2009, 06:14:49 AM
SpamAssasssin has a rule DC_GIF_UNO_LARGO - it attracts a spam score of 4.91 - triggering the rule is just about spam by itself

You trigger it if the message
It contains a single "image/gif" attachment exceeding 180000 pixels in size (e.g. bigger than 600x300)

I had my mail server set on Medium spam sensitivity (5) - and a user had a gif image for their signature

I'm not suggesting this is a problem or a bug, well maybe it just a user bugging me.

A year ago quite a lot of spam was email containing only images hence a large image (gif) with text usually gets a high score. Having a signature of 600x300 I would consider quite large and classify as spam. If you want to let the user get through you will have to add his to the whitelist.

Would suggest to install:

http://wiki.contribs.org/Email_Whitelist-Blacklist_Control

To control this.

Thanks Knuddi

Yes I considered that Contrib - it would have helped this - because their user was a single know source.
I also considered making a custom score

But I just thought - they have to learn this - maybe it's a glib statement but - most use spamassassin and are subject to this issue, better to learn the lesson now.
