Did you ever think of reading the manuals ?
http://wiki.contribs.org/Main_Page
Quick pointers.
Preferably use Gateway Server mode.
Enable public services in server manager, if not already enabled.
Configure the domain name in sme server either as the primary domain via console (typical) or as a Virtual domain in the Domains panel.
Configure external DNS records to point your domain name at your sme servers static IP and configure a suitable MX record.
It's good idea to set the TTL time to a low value before making the changes so it all happens faster. Ask your domain name maintainer/DNS maintainer about this
Wait a few hours or a day or two for DNS records to propagate around the world.
Everything else should just work, read the manuals for details.

When behind a router, usually your sme would be in server only mode. You would then forward ports from the router to your sme server for each public service you wish to use eg mail, http, https etc.
It seems you may have a DMZ setup, so your situation is not as simple.
You have options in the console to configure the server and probably need to select fixed local IP.
You are asking for a howto, but there is none I'm aware of, probably best to consult the Smoothwall documentation or ask at a Smoothwall forum.

Maybe if you read the manual you'll understand the roles of SME server.
Both configuration can be used either intranet server or public internet server.
The manual is here :

Read chapter 2: The role of the SME Server
