Title: Problem with Facebook <-> Squid
Post by: holck on October 04, 2009, 10:24:06 PM
I have SME server working as a common Internet port for a number of client machines. Mostly it works just fine, but lately I have experienced two, probably related problems:

1. When I (and I guess other users also) try to logon to Facebook, I often receive nothing but a blank page. If I reload the page, mostly I will succeed after a number of attempts.

2. My /var/log/squid/cache.log is filled with lines like these:
Code: [Select]
2009/10/04 11:27:45| httpReadReply: Excess data from "GET http://www.facebook.com/home.php?"
2009/10/04 11:28:01| httpReadReply: Excess data from "GET http://www.facebook.com/home.php?"
2009/10/04 11:28:03| httpReadReply: Excess data from "GET http://www.facebook.com/home.php?"

I have found people describing the same problem (e.g. here: http://www.mail-archive.com/squid-users@squid-cache.org/msg67561.html (http://www.mail-archive.com/squid-users@squid-cache.org/msg67561.html)), but the suggested solution is, as far as I can tell, not possible with the SME version of squid.

Any ideas?

Hi holck

A temporary workaround may be to disabled cache for certain sites.
