I'm running SME Server 7.3 as a PDC with all 10 clients using Windows XP SP2 for local file and print share for a local farm shop business. I have recently implemented roaming profiles as a few of our users need to switch machines due to the location of offices over the farm and farm shop. Everything appeared to working fine but then a couple of users noticed when they tried to do a file save as on a few documents they got error messages saying the file was in use. It allowed them to name the file and close it but on reopening the document, the document was blank. The other strange thing I noticed was that on the XP start menu screen where it displays the logged on user this occasionally alternated between the users full name and their logon name i.e Joe Black or jblack. I checked the file permissions and all look OK, the correct r,w,x permissions on files and folders. I have browsed the forum but haven't found anyone who has seen this sort of problem and I've also googled it but no joy so if anyone has any ideas or thoughts it would be appreciated.

the first (and only) suggestion is to file a bug in bugzilla reporting here the number for future reference..

Are you sure they are always logging on to the domain and not accidentaly into their perhaps existing local account?

Yes I checked that and most of the users are not computer savvy enough to change from the local machine to the domain and as it happens it's also happened to me as the administrator so I'm sure theres something else going on but at the moment I don't understand what!
