Title: SSH Connectivity
Post by: thianb on November 02, 2009, 09:53:40 AM
Hi All

I need to enable ssh communication from our SME server to be accessed from putty. I did generate the Public and Private keys from the sme server but the SSH connection is still not allowed from putty.

Please help

Are you using the certificate on the PuTTY side? Did you configure it under the SSH tab in the configuration tree for your server?

I suggest you carefully review each step as I suspect you have missed something as I have it working for years following the howto in the wiki: http://wiki.contribs.org/SSH_Public-Private_Keys

Thanx Stefano. I didnt enable SSH in server manager. How do I apply the certificates that I configured on the SME server to putty on my Laptop?

The instructions to do that are in the Howto eg refer puttygen IIRC.

From SME server to where? You can use putty to ssh into ("to") SME server, but not out of ("from) SME server, since putty does not run on SME server.
