Title: CHMOD Hack...
Post by: J.C. Meijers on June 11, 2002, 08:53:56 PM
Morning,

some time ago I found either a post on a forum or a how-to a nice workaround for the CHMOD-through-ftp issue. But I can't remember where I saw that or how it was done. I do remember that it involved changing a variable in one file in the e-smith structures. I've searched for it but can't seem to find it.

If anybody has the answer.... or even can point me in the right direction, much obliged!

I think I figured it out....

Browse through for instance MC to /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/proftpd.conf and open the file 05DisallowChmod.
Change the 'false' statement to 'true' and save it.

Now update the machine.....

/sbin/e-smith/expand-template /etc/proftpd.conf

And restart the machine.....

service xinetd restart
